About Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek

It is amazing to know that the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) Trek is another gratifying trek in the Annapurna area, after the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The first part of the trek traverses not only through the lush green forest, lovely villages, age-old terraced farmland with the mighty Himalaya on their backdrop, but also takes you to the Annapurna Base Camp and Machhapuchre Base Camp (3,700m) where trekking actually turns into a mountain expedition in such a short span of time. The lower Annapurna sanctuary area gets more beautiful with rhod

odendron flowers in March/April and poinsettia and marigold flowers in October/November. It passes through the mystic valleys, roaring waterfalls, lovely suspension bridges, lively hamlets and so on. Its second part is a little more challenging as we near the high base camps of Mt Machhapuchre (6,993 m) and Mt Annapurna South (7,219 m).

During this stupendous expedition, there are 2 major highlight points. One is the Poon Hill (3,210 m) from where the stunning view of the mighty Himalayan range with Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), Machhapuchhre (6998 m), Nilgiri (7041 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Annapurna II (7,939 m), Annapurna III (7,555 m), Annapurna IV (7,525 m) and Lamjung Himal (6,988 m) is unbelievably so close and so clear (weather permitting). The other is the Annapurna base camp itself where we will be fascinated to see the 360 degree view of the mighty Himalaya ‘the Annapurna Massif’ all around us. It offers a lifetime experience of being at the base of a gigantic amphitheatre made by the Massif itself and ultimately we are forced to believe that it is one of the never-to-miss places in the world.
